Product Overview
Rivers C5-H Two-Coat Heavy-Duty Anti-Corrosion Powder Coating System is designed for long-term protection of steel substrates exposed to very high-corrosivity atmospheric environments. The system uses a two-coat design consisting of “EX-P Pure Epoxy Heavy-Duty Anti-Corrosion Primer + CJ Outdoor Super Durable Polyester Topcoat”. Through the synergistic effect of primer barrier corrosion protection and topcoat weathering resistance, it enhances the overall durability of the coating system in high-salt-spray, high-humidity, coastal and industrial corrosive environments.
This system focuses on the protection requirements of corrosion-prone areas such as edges, weld seams, holes, connection points and complex structural parts. Film thickness, pretreatment grade and cyclic ageing validation programs may be configured according to project-level requirements.
Recommended Applications:
· Steel structures, steel components and outdoor infrastructure in coastal and port areas
· Standard and special containers, energy-storage containers and nearshore equipment enclosures
· Heavy-duty anti-corrosion outdoor electrical cabinets, equipment housings and industrial enclosures
· Carbon-steel components exposed to high humidity, high salinity, industrial atmospheres or long maintenance-cycle requirements
· Projects with high requirements for edge coverage, intercoat adhesion and long-term anti-corrosion performance
Key Features
· Uses a pure epoxy anti-corrosion primer with high crosslink density and barrier-protection design, suitable for carbon-steel anti-corrosion systems.
· The two-coat structure combines primer-level corrosion barrier protection with outdoor weather resistance from the topcoat, making it suitable for C5-H target environments.
· Enhanced protection is provided for edges, weld seams, holes and connection areas, reducing the risk of corrosion spreading from weak points.
· Suitable for electrostatic spray application; the application window, reclaimed powder blending and curing conditions may refer to the corresponding product TDS.
· Neutral salt spray, condensation, cyclic ageing and scribe corrosion evaluations can be conducted according to project requirements.
Typical Performance Indicators and Validation Recommendations
Item | Test Standard | Recommended / Typical Target |
Dry Adhesion | ISO 2409 / ASTM D3359 | Grade 0–1 / 4B–5B; grade 0 is recommended as the target for the two-coat system |
Intercoat Adhesion | ISO 2409 / Internal Method | Pass; focus on verifying the effect of primer curing window and topcoat application interval |
Impact Resistance | ISO 6272 / ASTM D2794 | Pass; depends on system design, total film thickness and substrate thickness |
Bend Resistance | ISO 1519 / ASTM D522 | Pass; depends on total film thickness and deformation requirements of the structural component |
Condensation Test | ISO 6270-1 | 720 h, or according to project specification |
Neutral Salt Spray (NSS) | ISO 9227 | 1440 h or above may be used as a project reference; final requirements should be based on project specification and sample validation |
Cyclic Ageing Test | ISO 12944-6 / ISO 12944-9 reference | 1680 h, or set according to C5-H project requirements |
Scribe Corrosion Evaluation | ISO 4628 / ISO 12944-6 | Evaluate corrosion creep, blistering, adhesion and panel rust grade according to project requirements |
Note: Laboratory TDS data for EX-P used with an outdoor weather-resistant topcoat show that, under the conditions of low-carbon steel with silane pretreatment, 100 μm primer and 80 μm topcoat, after 1500 h neutral salt spray exposure, the rest of the panel surface may maintain Ri 0, with no blistering and adhesion grade 0. For C5-H projects, it is recommended to prepare new samples and validate the system under the actual pretreatment, film thickness and component conditions.
